Y., May 11.— Reports current today at Jamaica that the Westchester Racing Association would curtail the sport at its impending spring meeting to four days weekly, were vigorously denied by Joseph E. Widener, president of the Belmont Park organization. "That is news to me," said Widener, when informed of the rumor. "If it were true, I certainly would be aware of it. You can say for me, and make it as strong as you like, that we have no such intention. Barring unexpected developments, the Westchester Racing Association will conduct its meeting as scheduled— six days a week from May 12 to -June 9, inclusive. This period embraces twenty-five racing days. "The only development that could make us change our advertised plans would be lack of support by the horsemen. I have no reason to believe or even suspect that we will not be given the fullest co-operation in this quarter. "We are determined to conduct racing that is worthy of Belmont Park. We will not tolerate two-horse and three-horse fields. Unfortunately, Jamaica encountered diffi-i culties in this respect. I understand the management and the horsemen were not in thorough accord there. This complication has been ironed out, but in any event I do not expect any difficulties on this score at Belmont Park. "There are more than enough horses at Belmont Park to fill all our programmed races, stakes and purses, and we are assured that the horsemen will give us their fullest support. The New York race-going public deserves better racing than it has been given, and I have every reason to believe that the sport at Belmont Park will be of worthy calibre." ♦
