SIR MICHAEL, racing well, took the lead in the stretch and, racing gamely to the end, barely lasted to hold VENETIAN GIRL safe. The latter saved much ground in the stretch and, finishing fast on the inside under good riding, would have won in a few more strides. TIVERTON was in early trouble, but finished fast. DUSKY DAME tired. FIGURISTE also tired. SILENT SHOT acted badly at the barrier and was started from the outside. FORGET NOT sprinted to the front early and, opening up a good lead, was doing his best at the end to hold TANTALIZING. The latter was in close quarters soon after the start, but came fast in the stretch and was wearing down the winner. ANDROMEDA improved her position steadily on the outside. PHANTASIME was tirine. KELLEYS PRIDE came fast after leaving the back stretch and outlasted STAMPDALE. The latter moved up resolutely on the back stretch, overtook the others near the stretch turn, but could not last. HAY DWYER tried to run wide on the turns. • The others were never dangerous.
