PIMLIC0 TURF NOTES f $ — — g Bayard Tuckerman, president of the Eastern Horse Club, was an arrival from Boston. He will remain over to witness the Billy Barton Steeplechase tomorrow. Edward S. Welter, starter at Hagerstown, which meeting opens next Tuesday, will hold schooling hours there daily from 9 until 10 a. m. Edward J. Brennan, race secretary at Hagerstown, stated today that he had granted stalls to ninety-five owners who are shipping 350 horses to the upstate track. Although Glen Riddle Farms War Hero still has a bad mouth and has not been eating regularly, trainer George W. Conway sent him a mile and one-eighth through the slop this morning in 1:58 in preparation for the Preakness. Pari-mutuel manager Mortimer Mahoney will open special Preakness booths at 11 a. m., Saturday. He will also have extra booths installed in his three rings as well as in the paddock, which means that every fan of a speculative nature will have every chance to wager. General manager M. L. Daiger will have a staff of 400 policemen handling Saturdays crowd. They will be assisted by city detec- tives Murphy. Porter and Dunn, as well as operatives of the Wright Leighton Detective Agency of the monumental city. Dick Pending, track superintendent at Bowie, who was a visitor, states that he has a force of men enclosing barns J K T U X and Y at the Prince Georges country track* These barns will be used to house the horses that are slated to spend next winter at Bowie. Racing secretary Edward J. Brennan an-* nounces that post time for the Hagerstown meeting, which opens Tuesday, has been set for 2 p. m., and not 2:30 p. m., as here-* tofore advertised.
