IRIDESCENT, taking command after the second fence, jumped well thereafter, opened up a long lead after the first mile and held sway thereafter. WILLINGDON, closest to the winner throughout, easily held the others safe. DANIEL SOOT, rated along for the first mile, closed gamely. HUON JOY was unable to threaten the leaders. QUEENS PAL was always outrun. LOCHSHEE was under hard urging throughout. NIGHT RETREAT tired after going a mile and lost his rider at the last jump. MADAME SNOB, away quickly and showing good speed, drew clear in the stretch, but was hard urged to withstand TOWN SQUARE. The latter went to the outside and closed resolutely. SINGING HEART, close up early, continued gamely in the drive. ALL ABLAZE showed a good performance. KELTWICK began slowly. ARCHWOOD lost ground all the way. ROYAL DURBAR did not fancy the going. MICROPHONE reached the leaders midway of the back stretch, sprinted into a good lead on the turn and, saving ground in the stretch, responded gamely to withstand HAPPY SCOT. The latter, rated close to the leaders, came through a narrow opening next to the rail entering the stretch, challenged gamely near the closing eighth post, but tired. PORTDEN, slow to start, circled the others and closed fast. TRED AVON closed gamely. CON AMORE and SENADO were used up forcing the early pace. SYRIAC, close to the early pace, closed resolutely when hard urged and, wearing down MUD, was slowly drawing clear. MUD, under restraint for seven-eighths, responded well when called upon, but was not good enough. DUNFERN improved his position on the outside early, saved ground in the stretch, but was held safe. DADDY NELSON was always outrun. SINGLE STEP could not get up. BLAZE BY was pulled up when beaten. THE TOUT sprawled and fell on the second turn and WOLF RUN did likewise.
