LEADING AMERICAN JOCKEYS H. Mills was the riding sensation last week and as G. Elston was still absent recovering from injuries sustained some time ago, Mills went into second place. He rode eight winners and with a larger number of mounts than Elston has had this year, he tied Eltons average of :23 in the percentage column. J. Gilbert rode only two winners, but retained first place with a total of only eight more winners for the year than Mills has ridden. Mills has more seconds to his credit than any other jockey and almost as many thirds as any other. His eight winners of last week gave him a total of fourteen in two weeks. G.
