DANDELION, never far from the pace, came strongly to wrest the leadership from TERRY LASS in the stretch and hold SHEPHERD BOY in a driving finish. SHEPHERD BOY responded gamely to urging and, racing gamely to the end, barely missed. TERRY LASS sprinted into a good lead near the stretch turn, but tired in the stretch. ZELLEEN raced fairly well. BRILLIANT GIRL and DOCTOR KLEIN tired. FLYING FLEET was cut off in the first quarter and was never dangerous. SYRINX was blocked after leaving the back stretch. The others were outpaced. The latter, blocked while racing in last place on the far turn, went to the outside and finished with a rush. PORTMANTEAU continued gamely, despite meeting interference from GOOD AND HOT in the stretch. GOOD AND HOT tired. JAZ AGE showed the most early speed, but tired badly in the closing eighth. ULTRAMARINE bore over in the stretch, interfering with GUNFIRE and SQUALL. GUNFIRE could not overtake the leaders. TACK broke slowly. NOELS FIRST was badly outrun all the way.
