I BLUE BONNETS TURF NOTES s The original plans were to open at Niagara Falls July 16, but the dates were rearranged and the opening moved forward to July 13. This was done to avoid a conflict with the Niagara. Racing Association, who propose giving a trotting meeting at Fort Erie in July. At the conclusion of the Blue Bonnets meeting, Julius Reeder will move over to Dorval, where he will act as racing secretary and steward. W. J. Morrison, who acts as Reeders assistant and presiding judge here, will fill the same positions at Dorval. Mr. Morrison is also one of the official family at Mount Royal, Kings Park and! Ottawa. Ed Springer has decided to remain over for the next three meetings in Montreal before shipping to Windsor. Jockey Reggie Cooper was fined 5 and suspended for the remainder of the meeting for rough riding in the seventh race Saturday. Kenneth Dawes and a group of friends are responsible for the meeting at Blue Bonnets. Some weeks back they formed-a pool to finance the meeting and were it not for his efforts, it is doubtful if the Montreal Jockey Club would have given a meeting this year. Before leaving for New York Sunday night Frank J. Kearns and his employer, J, P. White, held a conference with an attorney, who represented the controlling interest in the Vercheres Farm and as a result it was decided that the division of the J. P. White stable racing at Aqueduct would be shipped to Montreal and finish out the season here. At the conclusion of the racing in Quebec the plans are to ship all of the imported fillies most of them Irish-bred, to Vercheres and breed them to Cudgel next spring. This will make the offspring eligible for races for Canadian-breds. Kearns reports that jockey Prior has about recovered from the rather nasty accident he met with while riding at Bainbridge and that he will leave Cleveland for Montreal in a few days. The racer Betty Elvira bolted into the outside fence while being breezed Tuesday morning and unseated her rider, T. Muloche. The latter landed on his head and sustained a cut which required several stitches to sew up. W. G. Campbell wired Julius Reeder that he was shipping his entire stable to Dorval. They will entrain at the conclusion of the Dufferin Park meeting. William Doyle, who succeeded Mortimer Mahoney as manager of the mutuels at Blue Bonnets, has a good organization and everything in his department has been running smoothly since the opening. Mr. Doyle has had years of experience here as assistant to Mahoney and was equal to the occasion when called on by the Montreal Jockey Club to assume charge.
