SMART ENGLISH JUVENILE Special Correspondence. LONDON, England. Stanley, Wootton, the Australian owner-trainer, owns in Jim Thomas, a two-year-old named for the British Government Labor Minister, possibly the speediest juvenile seen under silks this season in England. At the recent Lewes meeting Jim Thomas continued his victorious career by winning the Astley Plate. The Irish-bred son of Stratford carried 133 pounds and gave from sevanteen to twenty-two pounds to his six rivals and scored his sixth straight victory in the smart time of :59, less than one second off. the record for the Lewes track, xt is believed that Lord Lonsdales filly, Myrobella, is the only juvenile racing that might be capable of measuring speed with Jim Thomas. Bred in Ireland by J. W. A. Harris, uncle of W. Harris, who trains for Rigan McKinney, Jim Thomas, the second foal to his dam, was foaled April 7, 1930. He is a massive good looking son of Stratford, from Honour Bright, by Flying Orb son of Orby, from Honour, by General Symons, from Prized. He was sold at the 1931 Doncaster Yearling Sales for about ,400 to Stanley Wootton, for whom he has won 0,575 thus far.
