LEASE LAND FOR EXPANSION Work of Building a Mile Track and Enlarging the Riverside Park Plant to Begin Soon. - KANSAS CITY, Mo Sept. 3. Definite assurance that Kansas City will have next spring a modern racing plant was made known today when it was announced that an additional sixty acres of land was leased by the Riverside Jockey Club for ten years, with an option of purchasing. The work of rebuilding Riverside Park to one mile will be started following the close of the fall meeting. Considerable work will be undertaken to enlarge the track to a mile, as it will involve the straightening out of a creek which run3 along the track at the upper turn. It will also be necessary to move all the stables on the inside of the track. The grand stand which was erected this year will be retained, but will be enlarged to double its present length-to secure seating accommodation for nearly seven thousand patrons. Together with the announcement of the leasing of land by the Riverside Jockey Club, the Missouri state highway commission plans to start working on the widening of the highway leading to the track to double its present, width and supply four lanes of traffic. The plan is to use three of the four lanes for traffic going j the track at post time and similarly three for inbound traffic when the races are over. Plans for the development of the new racing plant and track are not completed as yet and are awaiting the approval of Phil McCrory, the business genius of the club and William P. Kyne, the general manager.
