I AURORA TURF NOTES t $ : e Twenty-four riders have reported to Webb Everett, in charge, of the jockey quarters. Among the more prominent of the riders seen in action opening day wereC. E. Allen, C. Critchfield, -M. Clancy and R. Tilden, while the leading apprentices are W. Todd, J. Neal and J. Flynn. Jockey Charley Allen was granted permission to ride at Exposition Park by the stewards of that course and was in action on six horses on opening day. Owner W. Schmidt, of the Superior Stable, has turned over Nellie Custis and Curtsey to L. M. Holmes and they will be campaigned at Exposition Park. Two carloads of horses arrived at Exposition Park Saturday from Windsor, Ont. In the lot were six belonging to Miss B. Hart, four the property of T. Flippen and three belonging to Al White. R. Felix was an arrival from Bainbridge with four horses. Among the horses that A. Manale brought from Bainbridge Park were the useful two-year-old Sunny Sideup and the sprinter Burgoo. The starts at Aurora will be made from the regulation barrier, which Saturday marked the first time in several years that the public has witnessed starting from anything other than stall starting gates. Dr. F.W. Ashe, who is serving as associate steward at Exposition Park, was formerly one of the official family at Arlington Park and is not unknown to Chicagoans. Dr. Ashe for years served as an official in Cuba. Jim Macaw, which was entered in the fourth race, was vanned from Hawthorne to Lincoln Fields instead of Exposition Park through an error on the part of the! driver and was excused from starting.
