1 PIMLICO TURF NOTES s s? George Alexandra, who handles the extensive racing string of J. E. Smallman of Canada, reported the loss of Fair Fortune, a member of the Canadian sportsmans stable. Fair Fortune, a five-year-old, succumbed from car fever contracted en route from Toronto to Timonium. Harry S. Hart disposed of the promising filly Maynap to P. T. Catalano for a private consideration. Mr. Hart was acting for his employer, Leo Marks. Edward Burke, major domo of the Harford Agricultural and Breeders Association at Havre de Grace, was an interested spectator on Tuesday. Harry S. Hart, manager of the Le Mar Stock Farm, announced that his employer has abandoned plans for a winter campaign, and seventeen coming two-year-olds will be turned out for the winter. Ten of the number are to be disposed of before the eastern racing season terminates. The war department of the United States acknowledged the shipment of two mares that were received as a gift from Harry S. Hart. This consignment was the twelfth that wa3 turned over to the government this year by the owner of the Swingalong Stable. Freddie Parks will assist Frank J. Bryan in the management of the racing Saturday at Llangollen, the estate of Mr. and Mrs. Joh.n Hay Whitney at Upperville, Va. There are thirty-nine horses on the schooling list with the, adding of Reveille Boy, Action, Merry Lack and Helianthus. Due to N. E. Stanton not being able to get here in time to saddle Action one that he claimed yesterday for ,000, the three-year-old chestnut son of Olambala and Violet Play was scratched from Tuesdays event. Jennings Smallwood has taken over the book of the apprentice H. Knessi, who rides at 100 pounds. Steeplechase jockey M. Mergler was an arrival from Virginia. Ex-steeplechase jockey Bryan Harris stated today that he had been restored to good standing. He is endeavoring to secure several horses to take to winter trades. There are thirty-four horses on the schooling list, with the adding of Repaid, Westys Fox, Renewed and French Acre. The stewards suspended jockey Pete Walls for the remainder o the meeting for rough riding astride Wise Advocate in Saturdays seventh race. Jimmy McGee, of Louisville, whose H"elen Bab has won a half dozen races this fall, will arrive at Bowie Saturday with five horses. McGee, in his wire today, stated that three carloads of horses are leaving Latonia Sunday bound for the Southern Maryland Agricultural Association track in Prince Georges County. Joseph McLennan, racing secretary of the Miami Jockey Club, returned here Monday after a visit to Joseph E. Wideners picturesque Hialeah Park track. McLennan was extremely pleased with the many new improvements made to the Miami plant during the summer and predicts one of the best sessions ever held there. Condition books for the meeting at Agua .Caliente were distributed among the horsemen by Willie Doyle, who will serve in an official capacity at the lower California course.
