could not extend himself Possibly the going was too hard for him His ankles in front were painted with iodine iodinev v Admiral Gary T GraysonJs homebred filly Sotch Queen a daughter of Sotch Broom and Balkan Queen and a second time starter took the first a dash of four and a half furlongs for maiden filiies after roughing Zay the contender in the run through the home stretch Her margin was narrow in spite of the fact that Bejshak pulled up abreast at the last furlong post to lose a couple of lengths At five furlongs Zay a daughter of Campfire and Zenoia bred in Harford County Maryland by Mrs R H Heighe would have won easily easilyBejshak Bejshak lodged a claim of foul against Workman who piloted Sotch Queen but the stewards refused to do anything Many in the crowd looked for a disqualification Zay a long shot was the leader to the turn for home where Scotch Queen bearing in passed her Alanova was always in third place placeArmy Army Game a strikingly handsome filly by Bright Knight Maid at Arms starting for the first time attracted a lot of atten ¬ tion on parade but ran badly badlyDawnchild Dawnchild proved a poor shortpriced favorite in the second which drew seven threeyearolds that had not won since April 1 Young Jacobs did not appear to be able to make the daughter of Ed Crump and Sun Up which bore the popular white and black combination of Mrs Katherine Elkins Hitt extend herself Golden Camp showed the way for about half a mile and then gave place to Nourrice This one a New Yorkbred daughter of Archaic led into the home stretch where Gaither who had saved ground on the rail to that point took the outside with Manager Bill and assumed a commanding lead which the Fair Gain cplt easily maintained Triolet defeated the fa ¬ vorite for the small end of the purse Gai thers1 handling of the winner was beyond praise This lad who does most of H G Bedwells saddle work merits more and bet ¬ ter mounts mountsSilverskin Silverskin proved a poor favorite in the two mile chase which attracted also Spring dale Rose Philistion Glaneur Inshore Rozell Dusque and Hole High He walked as though something was hurting him going to the starting place and he jumped badly in spots lighting on all four feet instead of taking the fences in his stride It was clear i after he reached the back stretch liverpool that he would not do Springdale Rose a new hand bearing the silks of J B Belk which had alternated with him in the lead and made a few bad ones herself beat him over and took command The Meridian mare bad a two length advantage at the last fence and beat Philistion home under a hand ride paying 16 to 1 Glaneur and Inshore passed Silverskin in the run home to take the smaller awards in the order named Silver skin left the scales for his stable walking as though he hated to put the weight on his feet feetDick Dick Pendings Wahoo one of four well backed starters in the fifth a claiming race of one mile and a sixteenth for threeyear olds and over got home with a length to spare thanks to the good riding of Sage He kept the son of Stimulus under early restraint to the middle of the far turn When Chat Eagle which had set most of the pace tired Sage sent Wahoo into a two length lead Little Stokes outrun early as usual lost ground on the far turn and although he challenged gamely in the last furlong a couple of strokes of the whip proved sufficient to keep Wahoo in front of him Folking under Workman showed speed on the far turn Fife was a con ¬ tender in the first half Zembla a Pimlico winner showed nothing nothingBubblesome Bubblesome was in front to the last six ¬ teenth in a handicap of six furlongs in which his opponents were Cant Remember Ned O Moon Glory Red Run Solace and Aszulikit and he had the ancient John Mc Taggart aboard The sprightly Dougherty on Cant Remember outrode the veteran and won rather cleverly old Ned O getting up to take third money This was a handicap of the graded kind All of the starters car ¬ ried heavy weight Moon Glory was the popular choice in spite of the hard footing Red Run a Havre de Grace winner was fast on the back stretch Cant Remember is a brother of Cantoria and a bigger and bet ¬ ter race horse Frank Hayes mayor of Waterbury Conn owns him
