BLANKET FINISH AT TORONTO Indiantown Gets Nose Decision Over Newgro and Fred Almy in Fea ¬ ture at Long Branch TORONTO Ont June 11 In one of the most thrilling finishes of the season Lloyd Gentrys Indiantown took major honors in the fourth offering a six furlongs race that engaged a field of eight platers Newgro making his initial start of the year and racing in the interest of J B Miller was second and just a nose back Fred Almy rac ¬ ing for Miss L C White was third thirdThe The leading trio sped past the line so closely lapped that the winner was in doubt until the official placing was displayed There was a considerable post delay caused by the unruly behavior of Single A and Canterbury Rain Allanah was first to show in front but was soon supplanted in the lead by Single A The latter showed the way until near the end of the first quar ¬ ter where the Gentry gelding took command only to drop back to second place when Canterbury Rain moved up with a rush The Canter filly had considerable taken out of her in reaching the front and when the stretch was reached began shortening strides and Indiantown once more assumed the lead leadMeanwhile Meanwhile Newgro which had been work ing his way into contention was taken to the outside Waiters called upon Fred Almy for his best It was a bitterly fought finish in the last seventy yards and a stride past the line both Newgro and Fred Almy had the winner lieaded lieadedCrap Crap Shooter was the favorite but never entered contention racing far back through ¬ out outDespite Despite the absence of any outstanding of ¬ fering on Mondays program another large crowd was on hand to witness the sport The weather though threatening rain left little to be desired and the track benefited by the rains of Sunday was in splendid condition
