DETROITS LIST OF STAKES Features for Summer Meeting Which Will Be Run From July 4 to Aug 20 Slight Change in Officials Due to DIckerson McLennan and Carey Filling Engage ¬ ments at Arlington Park DETROIT Mich June 13 The Detroit Racing Association today made public its list of stakes for the summer meeting which will run from July 4 to August 20 inclusive They embrace eight features one for each Saturday and the fourth of July As at the spring meeting the minimum purse will be 800 The stakes include three twoyearold events and the others are for threeyear olds and upward at varying distances distancesThere There will be a slight change in officials Roy Dickerson the starter Charles McLen ¬ nan racing secretary and John Carey plac ¬ ing judge will be compelled to fill their Arlington Park engagements during part of the meeting George Palmer will pinchhit for Dickerson in the starting and Ben Holmes who has had a wide experience in New Orleans and other places in the office will be drafted from the mutuels to take Careys place Judge Murphy will take per ¬ sonal charge of the racing secretarys office and will collaborate with McLennan in mak ¬ ing the book The handicapping will be done by a board composed of Sidney Brown Ben Holmes and judge Murphy MurphyThe The success of the spring meeting has encouraged the management to reach out for greater things and it will be steadily on the lookout for new features to brighten the racing notably a weightforage race in the fall if the horses at present in training go on in their present form The prospect of a race between Equipoise and Cavalcade has attracted nationwide interest and it might furnish the occasion when Equipoise will step into the role of the worlds greatest money winner The complete list of stakes follows followsLiberty Liberty Handicap 2500 added Six fur ¬ longs Entries close Wednesday June 27 To be run Wednesday July 4 4Motor Motor City Stakes 2500 added Five and a half furlongs Entries close Saturday June 30 To be run Saturday July 7 7Royal Royal Oak Handicap 2500 added One mile Entries close Saturday July 7 To be run Saturday July 14 14Ferndale Ferndale Handicap 2500 added One mile and a sixteenth Entries close Satur ¬ day July 14 To be run Saturday July 21 21Hamtramck Hamtramck Stakes 2500 added Five and a half furlongs Entries close Saturday July 21 To be run Saturday July 28 28Birmingham Birmingham Handicapr25QO added One mile Entries close Saturday July 28 To be run Saturday August 4 4Grosse Grosse He Handicap 2500 added Five and a half furlongs Entries close Saturday August 4 To be run Saturday August 11 11Bloomfield Bloomfield Hills Handicap 2500 added One mile and a sixteenth Entries close Sat ¬ urday August 11 To be run Saturday Au ¬ gust 18
