LONG BRANCH MEETING ENDS Round Taile Still in Winning IVJood Defeats Crack Band in Maple MapleLeaf Leaf Handicap r TORONTO Ont June 13 Round Table a son of Sir Gallahad III and Priscilla Ruley racing for S W Labrot which es ¬ tablished a track record in his previous ap ¬ pearance under colors come back with an ¬ other good performance and accounted for the Maple Leaf Handicap main attraction of the closing day program at Long Branch Mrs Nat Rays durable little Stealingaway was second beaten four lengths and the favorite H C Hatchs Projectile was third a neck in ad ¬ vance of Black Target and Finalist was in the rear After considerable post delay in which Stealingaway unseated his rider N Wall twice the field was dispatched to a good start Stealingaway was first out of the stalls and showed the way to the first turn Black Target soon raced into second place and Round Table was showing the way to the Hatch colt which was placed under re ¬ straint in the first furlong furlongThe The Ray colorbearer was soon supplanted in the lead by Black Target and Round Table under a steady hold had moved up on the outside and was in second place and appeared ready to go to the front at the asking Projectile was farther back and was showing the way to Finalist FinalistBarnes Barnes was looking back before the stretch was reached no doubt for an ex ¬ pected challenge from Projectile ProjectileThe The Sir Galahad HI colt when reach ¬ ing the turn for home was permitted to open up a clear lead and when given a free rein in the last furlong drew away steadily and had a big advantage at the end Black Target had found the task of keeping pace with the winner too great and began dropping back Stealingaway then moved up to take second place and Pro ¬ jectile also moved up and though gaining slightly was beaten threequarters of a length for second place placeClosing Closing day at Long Branch witnessed probably the greatest weekday turnout of the meeting The track though termed good for the first five events had dried out rapidly and was fast for the running of the remainder of the card
