LIBERAL STAKES OFFERINGS! Narragansett Racing Association to Top Distribution of 35,600 With 11 Feature Races. ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., July 11 — Racing secretary J. B. Campbell received the stake blanks for the impending meeting of the newly organized Narragansett Racing Association, Inc., Wednesday morning and distributed them among the horsemen here. | The stake offering is a liberal one in every respect and tops the distribution of 35,600 which the association plans to offer for the twenty-nine day meeting which is scheduled | to get under way August 1 and run through September 3. Walter E. OHara, president of the association, has surrounded himself | with a capable band of officials. J. B. Campbell will be the racing secretary. Officers also associated with OHara will be C. Co- I burn Darling, treasurer; Arnold W. Jones, j vice-president, and James E. Dooley, secretary. Eleven stakes comprise the outstanding . offerings, of which the Roger Williams Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, and the Rhode Island Handicap, also for performers I of the same age, are outstanding, each car- I rying a value of ,500. The former will engage the competitors at one mile, while the latter is a more trying test of one mile and three-sixteenths. The Narragansett Handicap, which will feature the opening days program, fashioned for three-year-olds and over, is a dash of three-quarters and will have ,000 added. Next in importance in the stake offerings are the King Phillip Handicap, for three-year-olds and over; the Old Colony Stake, for two-year-olds, the Governor Green Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, and the Blackstone Valley Handicap, for all ages. This quartet of features will each have an added value of ,000. Rounding out the list of stakes are the-Gaspee Claiming Stakes, the Fort Adams Claiming Stakes and the Lafayette Claiming Stakes, which will each be worth ,500. Horsemen who have not been provided with stake blanks may obtain same from J. B. Campbell or Pat Horgan, who will serve as assistant racing secretary. •
