1 ARLINGTON PARK NOTES 1 § ■ According to advices obtained from Tony Padone, agent for jockey Earl Steffen, the latter will have the mount on H. P. Head-leys Thomasville in the Arlington Classio Saturday. Trainer A. Baker is an arrival with the following horses from Latonia: Cantlook and Clovis, which he will race for himself, and Upside Down, Autumn Nymph, Noble Gift and Skyrider, which will carry the colors of A. C. Bostwick. Jack Hodgins, who will officiate as starter at Hawthorne, is an arrival from Latonia and will remain a few days before entraining for his home in St. Louis. Joe Hardick, popular owner and trainer, who disposed of his stable last fall, is planning on returning to racing and is in quest of some material to campaign on the Illinois circuit. Stag parties were the order of the day in the Post and Paddock Club, with the respective hosts for the two larger ones Charles A. McCulloch and E. J. Lehmann. Mr. McCullochs guests were Robert N. Gold-ing, D. C. Green, president" of Mid West Utilities, N. P. Zech, R. D. Stevenson, John Barber, J. P. Wilson, C. B. Scott, R. W. T. Purchase, C. C. Harriman, Jack Green and H. L. Pollard. The gentlemen with Mr. Lehmann included Louis Buss, Norris Bokum, F. Corley, Adolph Gartz, Charles Crane III., E. Ford, Townsend Netcher, S. Roberts and A. Castle. Mrs. Isabel Dodge Sloane, owner of Cavalcade, arrived from New York Wednesday morning and was a guest at the races of Mrs. Lawrence Armour. She was entertained at luncheon by Mrs. Armour in the Post and Paddock Club, other guests including Mrs. William Hamilton Mitchell, Mrs. Leslie Wheeler, Mrs. Austin Niblack and Mrs. Charles F. Glore. Robert A. Smith, trainer of Cavalcade, Classic favorite, will discuss the inside story of the three-year-old champion over station WENR of the National Broadcasting Company Thursday night at 10 oclock. He will be interviewed by Norman Ross, sports authority of the N. B. C. announcing staff. Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt, owner of Discovery, changed his plans and will arrive in. Chicago Thursday in order that he can get in a visit to the fair before his star battles Cavalcade in Saturdays important race. Jockey Robert Jones, who won last years Classic on Inlander, for Mrs. Isabel Dodge Sloane, has been engaged by trainer Smith to pilot Good Goods in this years renewal. Mack Garner will have the leg up on Cavalcade. Jones scored in the Preakness this spring on Mrs. Sloanes High Quest.
