1 NARRAGANSETT TURF NOTES | Herbert Lauch, the first jockey to register at Narragansett Park, said that his employer, Jim Arthur, is bringing a handicap candidate to Rhode Island. Jambalaya won five out of the last six starts with Lauch up. The other time Jambalaya finished third. Work on the commissary building started Saturday and construction officials declare it will be ready in six days. The first trainers to arrive at the track, William F. Grater and Robert Russell, said that several owners had kept their horses at Syracuse, awaiting word when to leave for Pawtucket. "We stole a march on them," Grater said, "and shipped in advance of official notification."
