T DETROIT TURF NOTES ♦ -« A. C Van Winkle, prominent Kentucky attorney and breeder, arrived from Louis* ville for an indefinite visit. According to word received here, Roscoe Goose is taking up eleven yearlings to break. They will be sent to Goose at Churchill Downs from Polk Laffoons Kenton County farm. Noahs Pride and Cabezo, which are campaigning at Arlington Park, will be sent here to Benny Creech at the close of that meeting. Jockey Tracy Vercher is an arrival Steve Buckland notified the Detroit management that he was shipping five horses here Monday. They are coming from Fort Erie. The largest number of claims filed for any one horse here was lodged for Caw I Caw Friday. Eight different owners wanted the three-year-old, which went to Mrs. A. Lamoureaux. J. H. Tate took over Chatterfol and Pharamaid to train. J. M. Milburn is shipping the Starmount Stable to Saratoga Sunday. Miss Katherine Rawls of Miami Beach, Fla., worlds premier national A. A. U. woman swimmer, who defends her titles in the annual meet to be held here next week, placed a floral horseshoe on the winner of the Ferndale Handicap. Thirty other women swimmers who also compete in the meet were clubhouse guests of the management for Saturdays program. Judge Herman Conkling is distributing stakes blanks for the Maryland Jockey Clubs Pimlico fall meeting. »
