DICK KMKER PASSES AWAY Well Known Philadelphia Sports ¬ man Connected With Cuban American Jockey Club NEW YORK N Y July 28 Genuine re great was expressed at Empire City when news was received from Philadelphia of the death of Richard Dick Kaelker at his home Dick as he was well known to hun ¬ dreds of clubhouse regulars has been on the ailing list for some time A little over one year ago he was stricken with pneu ¬ monia but pulled through but the ravages of the disease left its mark and he never regained his strength For the past few months he had been confined to his home and intimate friends were acquainted with the poorFuneral fact that his health was very poor Funeral announcements will come from his home in Philadelphia Dick was fifty six years old and was born in Germany He with his parents and other members of the family emigrated to this country and set ¬ tled in Philadelphia He was a born gam ¬ bler and would bet on anything In company with his brothers he opened a small hand book which later grew into one of the lead ¬ ing establishments of the country Later clubhouses were added and then they took over the CubanAmerican Jockey Club which they ran for two years giving up when revolution and other internal disorders In that country prohibited racing there last
