NUCKOLS DALLAS STEWARD Well Known Kentucky Racing Official to Preside at Coming Fair . Park Meeting. DALLAS, Texas, April 12. Otto Herold, chairman of the racing division of the Fair Park race course announced this morning that Samuel C. Nuckols, nationally known racing official, has been appointed presiding steward for the twenty-one day meeting which commences Thursday, April 25. Judge Nuckols, who served as steward for nearly twenty years in Kentucky and also at Tropical Park, Narragansett Park and Coney Island succeeds Thomas C. Bradley whose duties at Aurora prevent him from again officiating at the Dallas track. Chairman Herold stated this morning that he believed he scored a ten strike when he received word from Judge Nuckols that he would accept the appointment, Known as a courageous official whose hard work broke up the alleged jockey ring at the Coney sland race track some nine years ago, Judge Nuckols services have been in great demand. He was steward at the first meeting at Alamo Downs and only due to a conflict with the Tropical Park season he would have been therefor the. San .Antonio winter meeting. Judge Nuckols recently returned to his home at Versailles, Ky.,. after serving at Tropical Park. He will arrive in Dallas several days before the meeting. In addition to judge Nuckols, judge Julius G. Reeder who also serves as racing secretary and general manager and judge Charles A; Pippen, steward representing the Texas racing commission will occupy the stewards pagoda. Jack Hodgins already has been selected as starter and chairman Herold expects to make known the other officials in a few days.
