FIFTEEN IN ,000 STAKE Representative Field Named for Three Ds Handicap Today. - Whizzaway, Winner of Eight Straight Races, Only Three-Year-Old Carded to Meet Older Opponents. ARLINGTON, Texas, April 12 A field of fifteen, representing fourteen different interests, was named for the ,000 added Three Ds Handicap that will be decided at one mile and a sixteenth as the feature of the third Saturdays program of the Texas Jockey Club at its Arlington Downs course here tomorrow afternoon. Nineteen were made eligible for the race but Ted Clark, which was assigned equal top impost with Our Count, Royal Blunder, Money Getter and Jimmy Sutro declined the issue this morning. Although the original mile and a sixteenth race for three-year-olds and which would have enabled Whiskolo to make his Texas debut, failed to fill and the claiming handicap was declared off when it did not attract sufficient entries, a well balanced card supports the feature. The Three Ds is the last of the three ,000 added features offered during the -twenty-one day meeting which comes to a close with the running of the 5,000 added Texas Derby and its supporting program Saturday, April 20. Whizzaway, one of the leading eligibles for the Texas Derby, is the only three-year-old named to oppose the more seasoned performers. A winner of eight straight races, the Whiskaway gelding will tote 105 pounds. Due to his brilliant Fort Worth and Dallas Handicap triumphs, Our Count, improving Reigh Count gelding, which races for H. C. Rumage, will carry the top burden of 120 pounds. It is a large package for the little gelding and if he is successful over such a representative field it should stamp him as the leader of the handicap division. Bien Fait, which made his 1935 debut in an auspicious fashion, only to perform dismally in his last effort, is next in the line of weights with 119 pounds. Then follows Sweeping Light with 117 pounds, and Prince Fox with 116. Sweeping Light was in closest pursuit of Our Count at the finish of the Fort Worth and Dallas Handicaps. In those two engagements he was called upon to concede weight to the H. C. Rumage colorbearer. More favored in tomorrows allotment of weights the son of imported Manna, which has a victory over Equipoise to his credit should give Our Count a sterner battle. Although he has been reserved for sprint racing recently, Prince Fox fancies the mile and a sixteenth equally as well as the sprints and the distance of the Three Ds is to his liking. His triumphs over Rock X., Blessed Event, Marooned, Bien Fait and others in the Blue Bonnet was most impressive and assigned one pound less than he carried in that last victory makes the Prince Pal gelding one of the real threats of the field. Late Date, which finished third to Our Count and Sweeping Light in the Dallas Handicap, was allotted 113 pounds, with Chance Line next with 112 and Quatre Bras II. assigned 111 pounds. The weights scale downjto 103 pounds, the minimum being assigned Hit and Run. A strong wind from the north, although making wraps necessary, proved very beneficial, for it drove the dust storm southward, and the weather man has promised ideal weather for the half-holiday program. In that event a crowd rivalling that of last Saturday, when 20,000 fans attended, is expected to witness the sport.
