t LOUISVILLE TURF NOTES Charles T. Fishers Dixiana Stable may-race in three divisions this season. While here Thursday Clyde Van Dusen, chief of the Dixiana training staff, announced intentions of sending divisions of the stable to Detroit and Latonia under Charles Gross and Pete Scheffel, respectively, while he, Van Dusen, campaigns the main division at Chicago. About forty head of Dixiana horses are in training here and at the farm. Two two-year-olds and a three-year-old which did not race last year, are additions to the large stable Frank P. Letellier of New Orleans has at Churchill Downs. The three horses were turned out during the winter. Dr. J. T. Chawk, Churchill Downs paddock judge, is waging a stubborn fight in his battle to. regain his health and reports from the sick room are that he has an even chance to be at his Downs post when the meeting opens. The Thomas H. McCaffrey stable, headed" by the Clark Handicap candidate Big Grand and the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks eligible Hazy Autumn, moved into Churchill Downs from Douglas Park Thursday. The string comprises eight head and is in charge of trainer L. V. "Buddy" Bel-lew, Jr. McCaffrey lives in Cincinnati. G. E. Lewis, with three head owned by Mrs. Lewis, arrived from Latonia, to which place the trio was shipped from Miami. George Gould had several head in the same car which transported the Lewis racers from Florida to the Covington track, according to advices received here. The Lewis horses unloaded at Douglas Park. While an attempt, weather permitting, to resume schooling will be made Saturday, the assistants of starter William Hamilton who are in charge of the -work are not very hopeful of getting back into action before Monday. When conditions become more favorable they will work mornings and afternoons in an effort to catch up in this branch of the preparation of the younger horses. Work on the 1,000 additional seats which will be free to general admission patrons of the Downs clubhouse Derby Day was about 75 per cent completed Friday. Situated at the far, or south end, of the clubhouse lawn, they are constructed in terraced arrangement. More than 4,000 other free seats will be available in this enclosure Derby Day, according to track officials. Milton Reiser, popular local turfman who wintered here, is satisfied with the condition of his own horses, as well as that of the five two-year-olds he is training for E. A. Carney and Scroggin Jones. The older Reiser quintet is composed of Ben Bernie, Parade Step, Princess Octa, Peacock Blue and Chalk Eye. For Carney and Jones he is conditioning a brother to Fair Rochester, brother to Ku-vera, brother to Cross Ruff, brother to Gyana and a colt from Miss Babe. All are by For Fair. In addition to the Kentucky Derby eligible Hank MacTavish, Dan T. Morris, Lexington turfman, had Paradisical, Lillian Uhl, Ruths Hope, Bill Bleiweiss, Monks Star, Tint of Gold, Old Traveler, Eloorman and Moa at the Downs. Except for a 50 per cent interest in Hank MacTavish and Ruths Hope held by H. E. Schuermann of New York, they are owned by the estate of Wood F. Axton, late master of Wildwood Farm who died ten days ago. Another Axton string, trained by Wayne LewiSj is in California.
