1 BOWIE TURF NOTES s . with Jack Healey, who has a division of the C. V. Whitney stable in training, will come here Saturday to ride Wise Duke, one that Sherrill Ward will saddle for the Bowie Kindergarten. The main division of f he C. V. Whitney stable is quartered at Havre de Grace in care of head trainer T. J. Healey. Jockeys R. Wholey and E. Litzenberger packed their tack and departed for New York. The thoroughbred colony quartered in this state has been well schooled. Red Palmer, who will start the fields during the thirty days racing, beginning May 13 at Charles Town, W. Va., was in charge of the Pimlico school. Bill Schamerhorn and E. Swelter handled-the horses here, while Bob Freund has been putting the Havre de Grace colony through its paces. Eleven horses trained by Bill Merion left by van at noon for Havre de Grace. There are nine horses on the schooling list with the adding of Abstain. United States Postmaster General Jim Farley has made arrangements to take in Mondays opening card at Havre de Grace. He will motor up from Washington with a big party of friends. Harold Bester, vice-president and general manager of the Hagerstown Fair Association, which ushers in its ten-day spring meeting on May 21 at Hagerstown, was here conferring with racing secretary Eddie Bren-nan and pari-mutuel manager Mort Ma-hony. Hagerstown will run the "Daily Double" on its first and third races.
