KOOTENAY BELLE dropped back after starting well, but came fast in the stretch and was gaining at the finish. HOWDEN met with some interference and showed a good effort. SIR ROSE was used up attempting to keep pace with the winner and was tiring. GREAT MEADOWS outbroke the others, but was unable to keep up. CALAVERAS was always within striking distance and finished fairly well. TORO PRODROME made up ground and probably needed the race. MORCLASS tired. The others never figured seriously. FRUMPER moved up fast when ready after leaving the back stretch to take command when straightened for home and, drawing out into a good lead in the last sixteenth, held JUDGE LUEDERS. The latter was close to ATHOL in the early running, dropped back when headed by PROUD HILLS and the winner on the far turn, but came again to save ground on the stretch turn and might have been dangerous but for being shut off by PROUD HILLS in the stretch. PROUD HILLS, ridden with poor judgment, was used up getting to the front in the early stages and had little left at the end. NERISSA was never dangerous. ATHOL showed speed for a half mile, but seemed to dislike the track and quit to almost a walk in the stretch, pulling up slightly lame. Corrected weight Athol, 111. " . . FOURTH RACE 1 MILE. LIGHT BROOK, finding clear passage around the first turn, soon raced to the front andj taking a good lead on the back stretch, was never in serious trouble. SUPREME COURT was closest to the winner most of the way and raced fairly well to the finish. BON AMOUR, given an atrocious ride, was permitted to race wide on the first turn, but held under stout restraint and, taken back on the back stretch, was not permitted to run freely until the race was practically over, then came gamely and might have won had he been given his head in the early part. HIGH TENSION went to :the front at once and held, on fairly well after setting a good pace in the going. FORT SPRINGS was closest to the leaders in the early part, but tired in the run home.
