Apprentice F. Ritz, who was tossed from Italia when the filly fell while filling her engagement in the sixth race Friday, received a deep cut on his chest and the track physician advised him not to accept .any mounts Saturday. Jockey A. Richard, who was suspended for ten days for rough riding, will return to the saddle Tuesday. Richard has been engaged-to ride Miss A. Morgans Wise Player in the 5,000 added Texas Derby. " Dr. C. N. Finchs Paul T. struck himself while galloping Saturday morning and was excused from the eighth race. J. H. Schlessinger unloaded Prince Ballot, Donnapeep, Dixiconna and Contrary at Fair Park, Dallas. They are the property of J. Robilio. C. C. Kranz, who has Jib Boom and Butch quartered at Fair Park, Dallas, registered, the pair here Saturday morning. Jib Boom was under colors in the second race. Tommy Grimes will ship his good two-year-old Billie Bane, juvenile champion at Arlington Downs and Santa Anita, to Havre de Grace Sunday night. He has been nominated for the Aberdeen Stakes. Billie Bane won the Juvenile Stakes in his only effort at the Downs. C. Pollard is sending the P. A. Shaw horses along in the same car. The stewards permitted A. Richard, who is under a ten-day suspension, to ride Rip Van Winkle in the ,000 Three Ds Handicap Saturday afternoon. Richard is contract rider for the Lone Star Stable. O. L. Foster, who has developed such riders as C. E. Allen, Jack Westrope and many others, will bring out a new apprentice lad during the Alamo Downs meeting. He is C. Kamer. Foster plans to ship six thoroughbreds, to the San Antonio track. Eugene Lutz will send Nell Kuhlman to Sa"n Antonio, where he will be under the care of Bill Lutz, his son. Presentation of a large colortone of Sam Riddles star of yesteryear, Man o War, to the owner of the horse winning the Lawrence Galleries Purse Saturday by Miss Dorothy Cowden, Fort Worth socialite, was a highlight of the afternoons program. A floral trophy was presented the owner of the horse wininng the Centennial, and Mrs. W. T. Waggoner II. and Mrs. A. B. Wharton, Jr., represented the Texas Jockey Club in presenting the Three Ds trophy to the owner of the horse winning the Three Ds Handicap. Many Texas legislators in Fort Worth for the Jefferson Day dinner found time to attend Arlington Downs Saturday afternoon. State Senator Clint Small, State Senator Frank Rawlings and Coke R. Stevenson, who is speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, were among the distinguished lawmakers attending. Sam R. Sayers, director of the northwest Texas division, F. H. A., also attended, as did Representative J. C. Duvall, one of the original sponsors for. the return of thoroughbred racing to Texas. Leo J. Marks, owner of the Lemar Stable and who also owns a breeding farm at Lexington, Ky., is delighted with reports from his foreman there.; They already have eight foals and expect twenty in all. Misstep is master of the Marks menage and Mr. Marks is very fond of his stud. Miss Zoe Beckley of New York, one of the outstanding women writers in the United-States, whose articles are widely syndicated will be honored by the Texas Jockey Club Tuesday, when the feature race on that days program will ba dedicated to the distinguished visitor. Miss Beckley will arrive in Dallas for a series of broadcasts Monday.
