NEW YORK MUTUELS BEATEN ALBANY, N. Y., April 13. Legalized pari-mutuel betting at the New York state race tracks was given a smashing defeat in the senate this afternoon by a vote of sixteen ayes and thirty-one nays. After lying dormant on the senate calendar for the past five weeks, Senator Twomeys resolution, which was designed to adopt that system of betting late today, was finally called up for decisive action on the senate floor.
