MALISPINA hustled hard to gain command after the opening sixteenth, rallied nicely when placed under punishment in the closing eighth and holding on strongly, barely lasted to stall off EJECTOR. The latter forced a steady pace while in pursuit of the winner, offered bold challenges during the last quarter mile, but failed to improve his position. JEANNE FETZKO worked her way up on the outside after being shuffled back going to the first turn and finished gamely. FLAMING BELLE went prominently for the first half mile and then tired. EPITAPH, hurried stoutly to take command in the first quarter mile, rallied strongly when placed under punishment entering the stretch, withstood a hard drive willingly and just lasted to stall off SINGING HEART. The latter, in the thick of contention from the beginning, drew on almost even terms with the winner in the closing eighth and fought it out strongly to the finish. BUILDING TRADES improved his position on the outside, entered contention when reaching the stretch and held on well. BUBBLING SPRING followed in close pursuit of the leaders for five-eighths, but tired fast in the last quarter mile. FINISHER, going forwardly in the early stages, took command in the closing eighth and came out slowly under pressure approaching the finish. POMPOSITY, under strong urging, finished with good courage. DOGMATA went in the first flight while being outpaced, swung to the outside when put to a drive and closed gamely. MASKED GAL made good speed while setting the early pace, but tired after being placed under punishment in the stretch drive. SUNNED could not reach a contending position early, but was making up ground steadily at the end. SOME GOOD showed a. flash of early speed. DOWDY DELL broke slowly and .was never prominent. Wen easily; second and third driving. POSTAGE DUE, taken under steadying restraint after breaking fast, followed SPEED TO SPARE under steadying restraint until reaching the stretch, took command without effort when, mildly shaken up and drew eut at his leisure ncaring the finish. WISE PRINCE moved up stoutly when leaving the back stretch, responded to punishment but was no match for the winner. SPEED TO SPARE showed high speed while setting the pace, saved ground and held on well. ACCOLADE broke sluggishly and could not menace at any stage. BROKERS TIP was never a factor. FAIREST FLAG, kept under pressure all during the early stages, finished gamely when placed under punishment. BUSBY tired after moving up at the final turn while on the inside. TERRY ON went evenly. JAMUL, rated forwardly until leaving the back stretch, assumed a slight lead midway of the turn but could not withstand the winner when shaken up. SLEEK, slower than usual to settle in her stride, bettered her position on the outside and closed stoutly while inclined to lug towards the inside during the stretch drive. EDDIE C. tired gradually after being overhauled. PRINCE PETTIE went strongly for three-quarters then tired. IRISH VOTE could not threaten. HOT GRIDDLE had no excuses. CANIMAR moved into a contending position between horses on the back stretch, gradually wore down MAD FRUMP in the stretch and had enough left to hold DUTCH UNCLE safe. The latter, under steadying restraint in the early racing, responded well when called upon in the stretch and was wearing the winner down. ROSS trailed the field early but closed well under his weight. MAD FRUMP, well up from the start, disposed of CLOSE CALL to assume a short lead when leaving the back stretch, but faltered at the end. TAUNTON could never engage the leaders. CLOSE CALL and DANCING CLOUD stopped.
