Won driving; second and third the same. JOHNNYCAKE had speed from the start, was hard ridden to dispose of WISE KING and had enough left to hold SHINING JEWEL safe. The latter, outpaced early, swung to the outside in the stretch and closed with a rush. WISE KING, quickest to begin, displayed keen early speed, then faltered under pressure through the stretch. WESTYS DUKE was well placed, but was unable to make up any ground under punishment. BUCK BESS raced evenly. TUXPAN quit. BRAIN TRUST, away slowly, was never able to threaten. EDDIE HELCK quit badly. AIR LINE had speed from the start, was steadied along back of the pace, moved up on the outside of MISS TROPHY, bumped the latter when straightening out in the stretch and drew out when the latter was in close quarters in the last sixteenth. MISS TROPHY had speed from the start, was bumped entering the stretch and was unable to keep pace in the drive. SCOTCH GOLD was slow to begin, moved up steadily and closed with good energy, but was unable to endanger the first two. EL BANDIDO was hard ridden early in an effort to reach the pacemakers, then faltered in the last quarter mile. MANY MOONS was unable to reach the leaders. JO -N ASBESTOS was restrained within striking distance of the leaders for the first three-quarters, raced to the front when reaching the stretch, but quit badly through the last sixteenth and barely lasted. iAVn;rAPF was outpaced until leaving the back stretch, moved up gamely when called upon and closed with cood speed through the last eighth. MORE POISE, restrained early, held on stubbornly, in the closing drive SOUAItE followed in closest pursuit o the pace and faltered after going three-quarters. The latter, restrained early, moved up stoutly leaving the back stretch and finished with good energy through the last quarter mile, though was unable to reach the winner. STAR FIRE finished willingly, though no match for the first two. MAID OF ARCHES drew away, into a long lead but faltered badly In the last five-sixteenths. COUNT TEN was outrun after going the first three-eighths. Scratched 34358 Bay Streak, 110; 34447 Captain Hull, 104. Overweight Golden Duchess, 3 pounds.
