NAWAB, going in its best form and saved early, responded fast after five-eighths, forged to the front approaching the final quarter, drew away rapidly, tired in the last stages, but held LAMPORTE safe under strong urging. The latter worked its way forwardly on the outside, but hung after offering a bold bid in the last stages. APPLE TIME, outrun early, improved its position steadily and closed with a rush. SLANT EYE, taken back to escape being forced wide at the far turn, came fast when straightened, but tired. ALBESS made up ground. TRANSPOSE showed nothing. SILK COVERING and AGENT quit. WASSAIL, away fast and rushed into d good lead early, was steadied along to the stretch, increased his advantage when challenged and won easily. RAPID PRINCE moved up fast in the opening five-sixteenths, responded to strong urging after reaching the stretch, failed to menace the winner, but was much the best " of the others. PEACE MOVE, outrun for a half mile, made up ground thereafter. EIL-WEIR showed a good effort and pulled up lame. ODDESA CLARK closed fast. SILENT DON raced wide. ANA X.. a strong factor from the start, was slightly impeded by SWIFTY entering the stretch and tired thereafter. HARPER showed a cood effort and worked out an additional eighth.
