CHEROKEE INDIAN A PROMISING RIDING PROSPECT PAWTUCKET, R. I., April 29. Douglas West, a sixteen-year-old Cherokee Indian employed by W. E. Charles, is one of the numerous youngsters who hope to get their big opportunity to launch their careers as jockeys during Narragansetts spring meeting as a result of Walter OHaras plan to stage special classes of instruction and special races for maiden jockeys. West has been exercising horses for two years and has been receiving instructions recently from starter "Buddy" Wingfield and his crew at the barrier. Wests some is in Smackover, Ark.
