REPORT TANFORAN FOR SALE Humors on Coast Place Price of ,100,000 on Marchbank San Mateo Course. SAN MATEO, Calif., April 29. A report being circulated at Bay Meadows has it that the Tanforan race track, of which John W. Marchbank is the head, is for sale and that the price set is ,100,000. To date, no group of purchasers have made public an offer, but it is understood that representatives of the Tanforan track have recently been in Los Angeles contacting an unnamed group, in that vicinity. John W. Marchbank could hot be reached Thursday, anent the sale, but it would not be surprising if a story that the track had changed hands would break in the near future. Marchbank last winter disposed of all his thoroughbred stock at auction and may be thinking of retiring from racing altogether. Tanforan, oldest track in the San Francisco district recently closed a highly successful twenty-five day meeting. The plant was enlarged a year ago and is now in first class condition, many improvements having being added this spring.
