HONOR NEW HIALEAH OFFICIAL MIAMI, Fla., Dec. 8 Sam H. McCormick, new secretary-treasurer of the Miami Jockey Club, has left for his former home, Lexington, Ky., there to attend a farewell banquet to be given in his honor by the Board of Commerce next Wednesday evening. Before being appointed to his present position by president Joseph E. Widener, McCormick was president of the Lexington Board of Commerce and prior to this he served as a city commissioner. As part owner of the McCormick Lumber Company, his firm figured in the construction of many building3 on different thoroughbred farms in central Kentucky. In this manner McCormick became intimately acquainted with racing and breeding conditions in the Blue Grass region. McCormick will return to Miami December 19 to take up permanent residence, bringing with him Mrs. McCormick and their two children.
