ROLLING PAST moved through on the inside in the opening eighth to gain the lead, was ridden hard-while saving ground and held on willingly to withstand COUNORA. The latter followed in near pursuit of the winner, made strong bids and fought it out gamely. ODDESA ROMEO was prominent from the beginning and held on gamely to the end. WILD IRISH was under strong pressure, but could not improve his position. COLD CHARITY was unable to reach, a forward position. LEO S. was never a threat. JOHNNY BANE, away in the first flight, sprinted clear in the opening eighth, responded to a vigorous drive in the late stages and barely lasted long enough to stall off HIBLAZE. The latter raced closest to the winner from the beginning and was gaining fast nearing the finish. WHIZZAWAY, racing in the deep footing during the early running, was taken out off the rail and closed with a bold rush between horses. CAPE RACE, getting started slower than usual, was forced to race very wide and made up ground steadily. IVONIA, also breaking slowly, was rushed up rapidly to enter contention, then faltered from her early efforts. CROOKED LANE failed to reach the leaders. SUMMER HAIL lacked speed. BILL BLEIWEISS, steadied back of the leaders for a half mile, raced forward stoutly on the outside, closed with excellent courage in the stretch drive and was up nearing the close. MATCH POINT finished with a bold rush on the inside of the winner. MON DOIT was under steady pressure from the beginning and closed courageously while losing ground. LADYS FAVOR made up ground steadily after settling into full stride. PANDORAMINT had to be ridden hard while setting the pace and failed to stay when the real test came. SHEKNOWS was used up forcing the early pace and quit. LADY CARROT broke slowly. FENG LU was outrun. THE RUNNER sprinted into an easy lead, was rated until challenged, responded gamely in the last eighth after swinging very wide entering the stretch and had enough in reserve to stall off STAR MINT. The latter, going closest to the winner from the beginning, moved up with, a rush on the inside when the winner swung wide on the stretch turn, but was weakly handled approaching the finish. MATTAPONY was taken to the outside to enter contention, made a weak effort on the stretch turn and tired. LINGERIE raced evenly throughout. RIPPLING RAY was never dangerous. LAST SCAMP was under steady pressure early and was placed to punishment in the late stages, but failed to improve licr position.
