MURPHY ELECTED PRESIDENT ARCADIA, Calif., Dec. 29. J. J. Murphy, Daily Racing Form correspondent, was elected to the presidency of the California Turf Writers Association at the annual meeting of that body held at the Santa Anita Turf Club Wednesday evening. George Her-rick of the San Diego Tribune was elected vice-president; Oscar Otis of the San Francisco Chronicle, secretary, and Bob Hebert of the Los Angeles Evening News, treasurer. Maurice Bernard, retiring president; Jack McDonald, retiring vice-president, and Lee Bastajian, retiring secretary, were named to form the membership committee
