Capably ridden by Arcaro, the son of Jamestown and Shady Lady set the pace in this dash to pass the -winning post slightly more than two lengths in front of Black River, with that Westerner taking the place from Airlap by a length and a half. Shadytowns score marked the third of the day for a public choice and gave Arcaro another double, one which was started in another sprint by Milk. Though it was his first of the winter, the Missourian was backed heavily, showing 29 to 20 in the tote. He was the second horse from the heavy delegation of Woolford Farm thoroughbreds now at Hialeah Park to win brackets during the meeting, Joe Schenck being the stables previous winner. ARCARO ALERT. Arcaro had the brown three-year-old away fast from his number seven station in a field of that size and hurried the Jamestown gelding into a two lengths lead in the first quarter. His charge never was in trouble "thereafter, swinging into the front stretch with a commanding advantage and continuing steadily when driven by hand and heel. Black River, always in a forward position, was under intermittent punishment from the three furlongs post. He finished willingly through the stretch but could not menace hie younger rival. Airlap was well placed for the entire trip though forced to go wide and turned in a steady performance under hard urging. Woodsia raced at an even clip throughout. Faust ran away a mile while going to the post and was eased up after the first furlong, simply galloping behind the others. Ghost Train and Mansco showed nothing. VELVET MASK REPEATS. Velvet Mask picked up his second purse In as many chances at the meeting by racing to a three lengths victory in the initial six furlongs race for ,250 top and ,000 bottom platers. Laddie Stone, moving into second place quickly, was decidedly best of those which followed him past the judges, while Believer closed well to be third. Tonianna came up a tip in this race but showed nothing. The winner was the shortest priced choice of the afternoon at 3 to 4.
