CROUT AU POT began to improve her position after a half mile, moved up between horses after reaching the last quarter, forged to the front inside the last eighth and was drawing away at the end. MISS APPREHEND, in hand for three-quarters, was put to strong pressure thereafter and held on well, but could not stall off the winner. NOGALO was in hand early, took command on the second turn under severe pros-sure and tired in the drive. ESCOLEE made up some ground after being outrun to the last quarter. SIR QUEST made the pace under light restraint, was put to pressure when challenged on the second turn and then tired. PIRATE LASS was through early. COSMIC PRINCE, in close quarters on the first turn, was steadied along for three-quarters, bore in through the stretch and closed well. COUNT ME, forced back on the first turn, saved ground after getting clear and closed strongly. HAPPY HELEN, outrun for three-quarters, made up ground fast thereafter. CROSS RUFF, in hand for five-eighths, was vigorously handled thereafter and held on fairly well in the drive. DAN SKILLING quit. LENA J. raced wide throughout. COURTAWAY, hustled along from the beginning, was put to increased pressure in the last quarter and held on well. SCARLET O. began to improve her position after three-eighths and closed gamely under urging. GOLD STEP had good speed from the beginning and lugged in badly, but held on fairly well. GAME raced evenly and had no excuses. POLYCLETUS had good speed from the beginning and bolted on the turn while racing easily in front. MY DAY,, taken under slight restraint early, responded well to urging in the stretch, but was not good enough. TARKWOOD CHIEF, slow to begin and far back for a half mile, made up ground rapidly thereafter. PLUCKY BYRD tired tinder pressure in the laic stages. GOOD OMEN, away swiftly and showing good speed throughout, came between horses in the stretch and, continuing gamely under urging, wore down LUCKY DUCKY. The latter was hustled into a commanding lead early, saved ground while setting the pace, but was unable to withstand the winner. SANCTITY began sluggishly, worked his way up on the outside and showed a good effort, just getting up in time to deadheat LUCKY DUCKY for second place. CHANTING, taken under snug restraint and always close up, faltered when placed to extreme pressure in the stretch. MISS LIZZIE could not keep up in the early stages, finishing fast.
