THOMAS A. POWELL DIES Thomas A. Powell, 58 years old, prominent in New York sporting circles for many years as an official of the Empire News Service, died shortly before midnight last night in the Washington Boulevard Hospital here as the result of a heart attack. Powell, who was taken ill here while on his way to New York from California, had been suffering with a heart ailment for some time. He leaves a widow, Mrs. Josephine. Powell, in New York. His remains will be shipped today and he will be buried there.
