NOTED INVENTOR DIES NEW YORK, N. Y., April 10. Henry A. Wise Wood, the man who gave modern newspaper presses their tremendous speed, was dead yesterday of pneumonia, which claimed his life after an illness of five days. He was 73. Among his inventions were devices making it possible to cast printing plates for rotary presses by machine instead of by hand, feed newsprint to presses at high speed and start a new roll of paper without stopping the presses. Wood was also the author of several books and at one time a magazine editor.
