MIDDLE AISLE had speed from the start, withstood repeated early bids from WAR BONNET, disponed of him and, called upon to meet stout contention from COVE SPRING, came out again in the last eighth. COVE SPRING, under restraint while within striking distance of the leaders, moved up threateningly, then made a bold bid entering the stretch, but was forced to yield ground slowly thereafter. IDLE FANCIES, unable to keep pace early, came stoutly through the stretch and was along in the last strides to outlast IN SANG. The latter held on well to the close, although failing to reach the leaders. SICKLEBILL trailed far back early and came with a belated rush. JEST ONCE worked her way into a prominent position nearing the stretch, then dropped back. WAR BONNET, much used trying to keep pace with the winner early, tired badly in the last three-eighths. ARTHUR MlRRAY began working his wav to the leaders in the last half mile, responded gamolv to bard riding through the stretch and, disposing of WHAT EXCUSE for the lead, held MACKS MISS safe to the end. MACKS MISS raced prominently throughout and fought it out determinedly to the close. WHAT EXCUSE outran her field to the first turn, drew clear and, rated along under slight reserve, tired under pressure in the stretch. OlR WILL, steadied along early, moved up on the outside approaching the fur turn and, while making up some ground, was never a serious threat. GAY FAD made up some ground, but was never a serious threat. VAIN BEAUTY was unable to enter serious contention. HATFIELD GIRL tired. NO DOUGH had brief early speed. Won driving; second and third the same DINNER JACKET, slow to begin, moved up steadily in the last half mile, reoniled readily to pressure and. wearing down RISSA Hearing the close, outlasted her at the end. RISSA went to the front at once, opened up a good lead after shaking off CADET BOB and, while fighting it out stubbornly, was not quite good enough. BOW LOW. avoiding the early pace, worked her way up gradually and finished with splendid energy. FLAG ORLAND, on the outside and well placed, was unable to reach the leaders under hard riding. DAINTY FORD, prominently placed, was unable to close any ground in the drive. BETTYS BROOM failed to threaten. CADET BOB faltered after going a half mile. STREET ARAB was outrun. AIRSPRING, under slieht reserve while in closest pursuit of the pace established by ALBATROSS, wore down the pacemaker when placed to punishment in the stretch, drawine out steadily in the last sixteenth. ALBATROSS went to the front in the first few strides, drew clear and, steadied alone under slieht reserve, was unable to cope with the bid of the winner, althoueh continuing willingly to the end. CATCALL, slow to settle into his best stride, made up ground steadily in the last half and finished stoutly. MlSELYING. a trailer early, made up some ground. MANDATE was unable to reach the leaders. FRITZ, avoiding the pace for three eighths, moved up gradually thereafter and closed willingly in the final drive. BALMY SPRING went into command in the first strides and was steadied along in front, but tired under punishment in the final eiehth. BOREDOM raced well placed for a half mile, then tired under hard urging through fie rlo: ing; quarter. MATCHUP was unable to reach the leaders. CHALLAMORE raced forwardly placed under hustling tactics, but was unable to better his position in the final drive. TAKING WAYS, outpaced early, was going willingly at the end. WATCH OVER raced evenly throughout. ALLEGRO trailed. DAILY DELIVERY, reserved early, was moving up determinedly when straightening out into the stretch and stumbled, suffering ab roken fetlock.
