Shelley, Jackson Confer About Arlington Meeting Eastern Stables Showing Keen Interest in 36-Day Season Robert S. Shelley, racing secretary at Arlington Park, arrived in Chicago and went into conference yesterday with general manager John D. Jackson. The chief bit of business was to prepare the condition books for the 36-day meeting that opens at the North Side track on June 22. Coming from the highly successful session at Narragansett, Shelley reports great interest among many eastern stables for Chicagos big mid-summer program. He said that the 21 stakes scheduled, topped by the Classic, and Arlingtons increased minimum purses, have caused a majority of the more important stables to look with favor on Chicago racing Arlington "s meeting is the first half of a million-dollar program which will conclude* with 31 days at Washington Park.
