t ;, s 7 ■ i i I l Wayriel Asserts His Superiority Crosses Final Marker Six Lengths Before Equioval In Sportsmans Route Test CICERO, 111., May 11.— Wayriel, proving herself much superior, carried the silks of the Lookout Stock Farm stable to victory by a six-length margin to account for the Chicago Executives Association Purse, fea-i ture event on todays program. Appearing to favor the sloppy going, the four-year-old daughter of Ariel and Mar-way stayed close to the early pacemaker, Equioval, to the last quarter mile, then, under mild urging, took command and continuing on in the home stretch finished strongly well in front of the tiring Jung colorbearer, who in turn was a length and a half in front of Clark and Heddes Mr. Smith. A large week-day crowd was on hand to cheer the horses on their way for the Monday eight-race program. The racing strip became sloppy after rain fell, but this failed to dampen the spirits of the fans as wagering was brisk in all events. Members of the Chicago Executives Association were guests of the stewards for the running of the feature event named in their honor and the winner was crowned by John D. Allen, president of the Arlington Park race course. Rejectable on Top Mrs. E. B. Shipps six-year-old gelding, Rejectable, closed with a rush in the final furlong to win the first event by two and a half lengths going away. The son of Byrd and Sue Steele was hustled along in the early stages by jockey D. Trombley and, after reaching the final quarter mile, was sent up swiftly between the leaders and, under pressure throughout the final furlong, steadily drew away from his opposition. Happy Winner, the early pacemaker, held on in the final drive to save the place. Crumpet just lasted to account for the show share of the purse. Cloudy Weather, the favorite, was forced to take up soon after the start for lack of racing room and was never able to get up thereafter. Mrs. R. Chastain, one of the few women trainers in racing, saddled the winner of the second race when she sent the six-year-old mare, Snowcrystal, to the post. The gray daughter of Kiev, showing good speed from the start, saved all the ground possible rounding the first turn and, under pressure, took command entering the back stretch, raced Braxton Bell into defeat rounding the final bend and drew away to win by two lengths over the gamely closing Clock Time. The latter raced up on the outside to get the show end of the purse by a scant nose. Snowcrystal and Rejectable, winner of the first event, made up the Daily Double, which paid 8. Romps to Fore Proving himself much the best, Michigan Token romped home eight lengths in front of his closest rivals to annex the third event on the program. The Joe W. Brown gelding took command after going the first quarter mile and, under very little urging, steadily drew away from his field rounding the final bend .to win as his rider pleased. Play Greenock closed gamely in the final furlong to get the place, while Just Beans -got up to take the third money. The race, which was run in a heavy shower, was run in 1:31 for the seven furlongs. The LeMar Stock Farms two-year-old filly, Mighty Lucky, proved much the best, when she graduated from the maiden ranks in the fourth event. Outrun in the first quarter mile, the daughter of Misstep and Flying Girl, favoring the going, rushed into the lead rounding the far turn and, under slight urging, drew away to win as she pleased. Elcinap, racing in the silks of the Hilltop Stock Farm stable, closed gamely in the final furlong to take the place. Salina O. just managed to last to save the third place from Butsys Rose.
