LAST FRONTIER forced the early pace and continued with splendid energy to the close, although unable to cope with the challenge of the winner. HADA STAR went well placed under hard riding all the way. althoueh failing to better his position when placed to a drive. MAY-DIG came willingly through the stretch after having been outpaced early. BIT OGREEN. quickest to start, drew clear and. rated alorg in front, tired under pressure through the stretch run. PARI-ERNEST was unable to reach the leaders. GHOST QUEEN was outrun. GAY BALKO, lacking his usual early speed, was never prominent. IN DUTCH was unable to threaten. BOLD DAN was rushed up on the outside leaving the back stretch, gained a short advantage at the close of the first three-sixteenths and. meetine stubborn lesistance from OGMA. came out steadily in the last sixteenth. ON THE CUFF, under hard riding to hold to a forward position, held on with splendid energy during the closing drive and outlasted LIBERTY JR. at the end. LIBERTY JR., well placed, continued gamely to the close. OGMA went to the front at once, was placed to pressure when the winner challenged and. making a detepmined effort to go along when challenged, tired during the final sixteenth. PRETTY IS was unable to enter into serious contention. ROUGH DOC was on the outside all the wav and was unable to threaten. WAKE ROBIN was permitted to settle into his stride without being hurried early, circled his field approaching the stretch and. taking eommand, drew out steadily in the last sixteenth. CHANCE SORD took command in the first eighth, met a bid from CHALLANTE. drew out after rounding the far turn and. holding on gamely, continued stubbornly when placed to punishment, but was uiable to cope with the bid of the winner. CHALLANTE, in the forefront from the start, made repeated bids to g-et to the front and, while not good enough, held on gamely to the close. VICTORY BOUND, prominently placed, was unable to make up any appreciable amount of ""ground when placed to a drive. TONY WEAVER had early speed, dropping back in the last three eighths. LOVE NOTE, steadied along in near attendance of the pace, moved up on the inside nearing the stretch and, fighting it out gamely, held on with good energy to the close. TWO WAYS followed along in back of the leaders during the first half, worked her way up gradually and held on with eood energy in the stretch run. LUSTROUS, prominent for the first three-quarters, tired in the last quarter. BATIK, outrun early, closed some ground. PENOBSCOT was unable to reach the leaders. BELL TOWER, under slight reserve for a half mile, gained command when HICOMB tired, and, forced to withstand a bold bid from LITTLE BEANS soon after being straightened in the stretch, met this challenge by drawing out again. LITTLE BEANS moved up at a loss of ground when swinging around the far turn and, after drawing on almost even terms with the winner in the stretch, tired through the last seventy yards. JAY STEVENS, quickest to begin, dropped back nearing the stretch, but came with good energy in the streUh run, though never a threat to the first two. SIDE ARM moved up through the back stretch but was unable to close ground thereafter. HICOMB, hustled to the front, drew away into a good early lead, but tued after going three-quarters. PETER ARGO prominently placed and, lightly restrained from the outset, gained a short lead in the stretch and held SAXONIAN safe to the close. SAXONIAN drew into a clear lead in the run through the back stretch and fought it out stubbornly when challenged. FRENCH TRAP, permitted to drop far back, began moving up when leaving the back stretch, was forced to lose considerable ground and closed going gamely. TOP STAFF, steadied along for the first three-quarters, moved up nearing the stretch, but was unable to close any ground during the last eighth. CHATTER WRACK faltered during the last quarter. BABY TALK was never prominent. ZALTOWNA was" outrun. ARMISTICE, on the inside going to the first turn, gained a short lead nearing the back stretch, but began bearing out badly and dropped back steadily. Scratched— 231663Country Lass, 110. PRIORITY moved up gradually through the back stretch while under light reserve, went to the front straightening out in the stretch and drew out in the last sixteenth. BUSY MAN, prominent from the outset, was much used in racing with MAX FORST and had little left with which to meet the bid of The winner. MAX FORST displayed speed in disputing the pace and, tiring in the stretch, just lasted to hold SUPREME FLAG to a dead heat. SUPREME FLAG closed gamely, getting up to draw on even terms with MAX FORST in the concluding stride. ESTA, outrun early, closed some ground, although never a serious threat to the leaders. FOUR EYES was unable to enter into serious contention. INVINCIBLE tired. HOWARD, prominent early, dropped back steadily in the last half.
