GIRLETTE went into command in the opening sixteenth, drew clear through the back stretch, met a stout bid from LOU ONEILL and had enough left to hold SHASTA MAN safe. The latter, away slowly and outpaced early, moved up determinedly in the last five-sixteenths and came courageously in the stretch run. BLOODHOUND raced along in the First flight throughout. VALDINA FLARE failed to close any appreciable amount of ground when placed under punishment. LOU ONEILL tired after making a bold bid on the inside nearing the stretch run. VERY GRACEFUL moved up on the inside down the hack stretch,, but failed to threaten. The others were never prominent. JOSIES PAL moVed up steadily through the opening quarter, responded gamely when reaching the stretch and, closing stoutly, wore down MASK AND WIG to draw out in the last sixteenth. MASK AND WIG went into command soon after the start, opened up a good lead and, while tiring in the stretch, was never threatened for the place. RED MEADOW, slow to start, moved up stoutly after going three-eighths and held on determinedly through the closing drive. MAELINE, quickest to start, was unable to maintain his advantage, although racing "forwardly all the way. TAKE IT closed some ground. LADY LYONORS was going willingly at the end. LAST FRONTIER moved up to the front soon after the start, met stubborn early opposition from GRANDEEM, disposed of her, surrendered command to LARGO" MINT in the stretch, but responded gamely and came again to be up in the closing stride. LARGO MINT, well placed all the way, gained a short advantage in the stretch and, while holding on gamely, just failed to last long enough. MATCHUP, steadied along early, held on willingly when placed to pressure. GRANDEEM made a game bid togo along with the winner, but was unable to . keep pace in the last three-eighths. TWO TOPS, well placed, was unable to reach the leaders. KN1TETTA, away slowly, was rushed up on the outside, but was unable to engage the leaders. ARDENELL, away fast, tired steadily. MEDID had speed from the starf disputed the command with ARIEL BEAM and, gaining the command in the stretch, had enough in reserve to withstand the closing challenge of UHHUH. The latter, steadied along in pursuit of the dueling leaders while on the outsjde, responded gamely to punishment and finished determinedly. ARIEL BEAM, quick to start, showed good speed in .cutting out the early pace and fought it nut determinedly when overtaken. VALDINA ROCKET, hard ridden all the way, continued with energy to the close. MISINTERPRET closed a good gap. BOOTS SHORTY was unable to reach the leaders. VALDINA SECRET was outrun.
