Breeds Mares to Jack FORT WORTH, Texas. June 18.— One of Kansas best known breeders of thoroughbreds has solved a difficult problem, from his own viewpoint. Answering a query from Bud Bur-mester about his plans, the Kansan replied as follows: "My stallion is doing well, has a splendid disposition, and his colts look as if they might run, although, owing to existing circumstances, none of them has been tried. I still have most of my mares, and you know I have daughters of Blue Larkspur, Mad Hatter, Black Toney, Sickle and Sir Gallahad III. Although it will be hard for you to believe this, I am breeding these matrons to a champion jack, for at least one can sell mules if nothing else. Somebody has to hold on to thoroughbred horses in war times or there certainly would not be any after the war, but for the present Ill raise mules until prices are better."
