Bill Cummings sterling eight-year-old mare, Loveday, on the occasion of her victory in the Roger Williams Handicap on Saturday, was making the 78th start of her racing career. During her brilliant career she has registered 16 wins, 18 seconds, 16 thirds and 10 fourths to earn a total approximating 2,000. The mare pulled up sound on Saturday and will be seen next in the 0,000 Rhode Island Handicap on May 6. Flemming plans to retire her this fail and will send her to Kentucky to be bred to Bull Lea. Mrs. Jake Freedmans sprinter. Fire Warden, who won a division of the Taunton Purse on Thursday, will make his next start here in the six furlongs Bristol Handicap. Adelard "Frenchy" Lamoureaux, leading trainer at the meeting, with five winners, is also setting a high percentage. He has started only seven horses at the meeting. He won twice with Night Editor and Pair-cais and once with Momo Flag. His other starter, Dr. Johnson, finished second and fourth in his two starts. Horsemen are warned not to ship here unless complete arrangements have been made. Rupaca Farm will ship six head from Pimlico over the week-end, headed by the smart Layaway, which has been named for stake engagements here. Trainer George Cook will be in charge. Jockey Willie Turnbull reported to Fort Devens on April 24 for induction into the Army. Frank Travis, the veteran conditioner who has been sick with pleurisy at Shreve-port, La., has made a complete recovery and will report at Gansett the first of next week. C. F. Wagner, owner of the Donna-Ray Stable trained by Paul Norris. arrived here this morning and plans to spend a week with his stable. Claude Feltner Monday mouiing stated that Boot and Spur lost both hind shoes during the running of Saturdays Roger Williams Handicap. Another victim of mischance on Saturday was Valdina Alpha, whose saddle slipped when the horse was in a position to make a winning bid in the Concord Purse, won by Valdina Punch. William Helis is shipping eight horses | from New York to meet stake engagements here at the meeting. The horses will be I under the care of trainer Ed Snyder
