April 24. 1 Stake blanks for the Aqueduct meeting ■ which will be conducted from June 15th to July 1st were distributed among horsemen here over the week-end. Entries for these stakes close on Monday, May 15th. Jockey Johnny Breen packed his boots and saddles and departed for Maryland where he will perform during the combined meeting at the Pimlico course. Art Dalton will handle the riding book" of apprentice E. Bianco during the New York season. Frank Reilly reported this morning that in addition to making the engagements for jockey R. Permane he will handle P. Maschek. The latter recently arrived from Baltimore and reported to Jules Wessler for whom he will ride this season. Apache, from the Belair Stud, who rapped himself in his Paumonok engagement, resumed training yesterday. The five-year-old was on the shelf for a brief [spell recovering from the bruises. Jack Skinner requested stable room for a dozen horses owned by the Cleveland, Ohio, patron, A. C. Ernst. Skinner is at Louisville and plans to ship eastward following the Kentucky Derby. Briggs F. Spash, a newcomer to the ranks of the thoroughbred owners purchased at private terms from W. G. Douglas the three-year-old maiden Gabe Paul. The colt, a son of Sickle-Kiss, was turned over to W. A. Crawford to train. " Louis B. Mayer, California patron, was among Saturday afternoons visitors. He was pleased with the performance of his Free France in the sprint effort on Friday, and may remain over to witness his test , on Monday in another six furlongs sprint. Col. Louis Landes, the first counsel for the Jockeys Community Fund and Guild, , was among the afternoons visitors. Eugene Mori of Garden State Park, was s among the early arrivals to witness the e running of the Wood Memorial and interest horsemen in the forthcoming meeting f at the Camden, N. J. track. The crowd which taxed the capacity of t the stand was early in arriving and some five hundred spectators were in the stands . before the eleven oclock round-up. At private terms this morning, W. A. Shea . purchased the plater, Chickore, from J. A. Coburn, and it was turned over to E. Phelan to train. Otto Luke, of the H. M. Stevens forces, is leaving for Louisville, Ky., today. He will supervise the catering department t during the Churchill Downs meeting. Trainer A. Robertson registered the two-year-olds ■ Lively Man and Metas Doll at t the secretarys office here Saturday. The J horses are the property of Mrs. A. Robertson ■ and are quartered at the Belmont t track. J Sam Garfield, New England manufacturer ■ and sportsman who raced a useful 1 string of thoroughbreds during the Florida 1 winter season, was a visitor at Jamaica. Plavan, who raced Urge Me and 1 other horses, was among the afternoons 5 visitors. Former jockey Alfred Robertson, now ? owner-trainer of the two-year-olds Lively J Man and Mother Hubbard, made his first appearance of the season. Robby, after a winters hard work in Florida, exercising as 1 well as training his string, has given up all l[ thoughts of returning to the saddle.
