Field of Eight Probable for Blue Grass Challenge Me and Harriet Sue Going in Tomorrows Feature Greentree Stables Stir Up Is Scheduled to Leave East For Churchill Downs Today LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 24.— Activities on the Derby scene will be stepped up this week, with the decision of the 0,000 Blue Grass Stakes on Wednesday and the ar-j rival of several of the eastern contingents. Indications now are that a field of seven or eight will parade for the Blue Grass, which is the highlight of Charity Week at the ancient Downs. The probables include Brolite Farms Arkansas Derby victor Challenge Me, W. C. Davis Rock wood Boy, Erlanger Stables Shut Up, A. C. Ernsts Alorter, Hyman Friedbergs Harriet Sue, M. B. Goffs Sky-tracer and one or both of Col. C. V. Whitneys candidates. Alamein and Signals Bloke. To these may be added Ruth Collins Kope Kona and Mrs. Floyd Wests Comanche Peak. Greentree Stables Stir Up, the current Derby favorite as a result of his conquests in the Flamingo, Experimental and Wood Memorial, is expected to arrive at the South Louisville course on Wednesday. George D. Wideners Lucky Draw, winner of the lesser half of the Wood, and A. A. Baronis Autocrat also are coming direct from Long Island for "the run for the roses," while Mrs. Ethel Jacobs Stymie detours to Pimlico for the week-ends Chesapeake. Friedberg Miss Works Mile Trainer Andy Schuttinger, disappointed in the performance of Col. C. V. Whitneys Pukka Gin in Stir Ups end of the Wood, still was not sure this morning if his charge will fill his Derby engagement. While Olympic Zenith so anticlimaxed his showy Louisiana Derby form he is to re- main on Long Island. Several of the real candidates for the May 6 version of Churchill Downs 5,000 added turf extravaganza were sent through training maneuvers on the week-end. Har-! riet Sue, the swift filly who is expected to rule the Blue Grass Stakes choice, breezed a mile around the dogs in Sunday morn- ings mud. Clockers tabbed the daughter of Bull Lea in :51, 1:17% and 1:46. M. B. Goffs Skytracer, beaten about a length by Stir Up in the Flamingo, ran below expectations in the recent Stony Point mile, where Alorter made him stop. However, he is to be afforded an opportunity of making amends in the Blue Grass Stakes and this morning went a handy and impressive mile on a slow surface in :2445, :49y5. 1:15%, 1:29*3 and up in 1:43%. There is the theory Skytracer was short for the Stony Point but if he was not ready for it, his frenzied pace duel with Alorter scarcely can have improved him. Alorter also breezed this morning. He was timed a half in :49%, five furlongs in 1:02% with impressive ease. The By Jimminy camp reported the fill- ing reduced in his underpinning and that while he will be an absentee from the Blue Grass, he may appear in a mile condition affair Friday. • ! | j !
