I I I I , j I j Seven Handicaps Carded At River Downs Meeting Feature Saturday and Holiday Programs at Cincinnati Track CINCINNATI, Ohio, April 24.— Among the more valuable races scheduled for presentation during the River Downs meeting of 31 or more days, opening on Satur-; day. May 27, are the Cincinnati Enquirer, Gibson Hotel, Sinton Hotel, Cincinnati Times Star, Cuvier Press Club, American Racing Record and the Cincinnati Post handicaps. All of these events are for horses three -year-olds or older, and the distances will range from six furlongs to one mile and 70 yards. They will top the Saturday and holiday programs from opening day to Saturday, July 1, inclusive, and will be worth from ,500 to ,000 each. Secondary features on the same days will be worth from ,500 to ,200 and these and all other programs will comprise eight events each. Conditions for races to be staged during the first 13 days of the meeting have been disclosed by racing secretary L. H. Van Zandt and now are being distributed among horsemen throughout the Mid -West. No purse will be under 00. Others on the racing staff for the meet-I ing include stewards James F. Gallagher and Harry R. Allshouse and placing judges John L. Watkins, Dr. L. M. Holmes and Van Zandt. Dr. Holmes also will act as paddock judge and track veterinarian. while Watkins will double as clerk of scales. Week-day prdgrams will begin at 4:15 p. m. daily while the fields for opening events on Saturdays and holidays will reach the starting post two hours earlier.
