Attorney-General Approves Transfer of Race Meetings The transfer of the Lincoln Fields meeting to Hawthorne and the Arlington Park session to Washington Park was approved in an opinion given the Illinois Racing Board by Attorney-General George F. Barrett. In sanctioning the changes of locales the attorney -general, who likewise approved the move last year, stated that "such transfers would not only relieve the burden of transportation facilities and thereby aid the war effort, but would also insure the state of Illinois that it would receive revenues which otherwise would not be forthcoming." The Lincoln Fields meeting opens on May 16 and runs through June 17 for a period of 29 days, while Arlingtons 40-day session begins June 19 and extends through August 3.
